Fomo is a phenomenon that is mainly known among young people but also affects adults. The Fear Of Missing Out on something important or fun. This usually concerns events or information that someone would miss if they did not attend or were not aware of.

The result is actually a form of stress. Often, for the reason of Fomo, appointments are still made while they don’t fit in the agenda, emails are checked until late at night or during holidays, or social media are scrolled through. These examples might now create awareness, turning a ‘no way’ into an ‘oh yes, recognizable’.

What is so special about this phenomenon is that there is so much every day that we miss out on. Often without realizing. Sometimes we are even present and still miss out on what is going on. This has to do with the fact that we automatically have filters turned on that let you see, hear, smell, feel something – or not…

Numerous studies and experiments have been conducted on this selective perception. I want to share an example with you.

See if this awareness can give you the reassurance that you don’t even have to try to experience or get to know ALL. You won’t be able to grasp everything. See for yourself…
